Live Music on Long Island

The Long Island music scene is heavily influenced by new music coming out of NYC and also by Long Island’s suburban youth. The Island has produced some of the music industry’s most popular artists and bands such as Blue Öyster Cult, Twisted Sister, Pat Benatar, Brian Setzer, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Taylor Dane, Donnie McClurkin, and of course LI’s very own Billy Joel. Billy Joel was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, and in the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

Long Island is a great place to enjoy live music with the hundreds of local night spots that offer live performances mostly on weekend nights, live bands and soloists who play regularly at the east end wineries, tons of free local concerts at places like the Beach Hut at Smith Point, mid-size live performance venues such as The Paramount in Huntington and Theatre at Westbury, and larger venues like the Nassau Coliseum and Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.
